Great Timing For ROFLaptop

The former security director of the One Laptop Per Child non-profit has blasted the project for losing sight of its goals, accusing chairman Nicholas Negroponte of deceiving the public. It's all about shipping kit, says Ivan Krstić in an incendiary essay.

Though, you ought to read Krstić's original essay here as well. Ivan and I are chummy from back in my Cambridge/Somerville days, so I heard the synopsis of his essay right from his mouth at an event a couple months ago.

Nonetheless, I felt compelled to keep my word to acquaintances still at the project about auctioning this autographed XO laptop to benefit the OLPC. Now I'm feeling rather conflicted, so I've emailed Ivan to to get his opinion on where to donate the proceeds. Granted, now that there's been bidding on the eBay auction, I can't change the listing because it'd be misleading past bidders.

Maybe Iron Man will save the day. Geez, I just wanted to raise some money for a non-profit...
