Last Sunday, Breadpig threw a book launch party for Zach Weiner's Save Yourself, Mammal!, the first-ever English collection of SMBC comics. We filled Public Assembly with dinosaur toys and about 100 nerds. Zach did a marvelous Q&A, Alexis ran an auction of rare SMBC goodies, and when the dust settled we had generated >$5000 for supplying science and math classrooms in NYC through DonorsChoose.org! For you curious types, the breakdown of profits & costs is at the bottom of the post.
Breadpig would like to thank our friends at DonorsChoose.org (Katie, Zach, and Charles) for coming out and participating with such great senses of humor; Ben and the rest of the Public Assembly staff for graciously hosting us and accommodating all of our silliness; Jeff & Elissa for running all kinds of promo assistance; Matt for the, uh, progressive dinosaur interactive installation pieces; and, of course, the Weinersmiths, Zach and Kelly, for being the hardest-working couple in webcomics/parasite studies.
The full set of our photos is here; highlights are posted below. If you also have photos of the event, please tag them with "smbcsym" on Flickr!
