Another check for the XKCD school!
Posted by chrysaora on
We're happy to report that our friends at the Midlothian Friends Meeting have raised a total of $1187.85 for the XKCD school in Laos! Part of this came from the pancake breakfast organized by the younger Friends, but the bulk came from sales at the Thrifty Quaker, their thrift store on the outskirts of Richmond. The money will go towards sustaining the library, staff training for the librarians, and purchasing new books. We're so grateful that the Midlothian Friends chose the XKCD school as their charity of the month. Keep up the great work!
Breadpig Hands SF/SPCA $15,000 Check From LOLmagnetz, Plays With Puppy

Breadpig was invited to the opening of the SF SPCA's magnificent new facility, the Leanne B. Roberts Animal Care Center. Due to a sudden world-saving mission, Alexis & Liz visited the opening in breadpig's stead. Nick Gonzalez (former TechCruncher turned startup-guy) recently wrote on the auction and even remembered the first eBay-for-charity auction Steve and I did last July. And I also got sent a LOLmagnetz shoutout by Thomas Nybergh -- he really sums it up well: From the Non-allergenic lolcats dept.: Put last year’s mainstream Internet meme on your fridge… tomorrow! Non-US orders accepted. The breadpig couldn't agree more. Pre-order yours today! Thanks to both Nick and Thomas for spreading the bacon around.
